FROM RAGS TO RICHES,The common denominator
The other day one of our employees asked me to help her find the name of a young western successful person to write an article about his or her inspirational story about how he or she started his business and its success story.
Rags-to-riches, refers to any situation in which a person rises from poverty to wealth, and in some cases from absolute obscurity to heights of fame—sometimes instantly.
Some of the world's current billionaires took themselves from the streets to the top of the world richest people. Despite mounting evidence that it's becoming increasingly difficult to build such wealth, these people and their stories are proof that it is possible to overcome life's toughest challenges and create something better for yourself.
So I started my task to find the name of a person to give to our employee and in my research I found something quite interesting. Although there are very many good stories of many different people that had raised from poverty to extreme wealth like: Sam Walton, an American entrepreneur who built a small grocery store into the giant Wal-Mart supermarket chain, amassing a fortune of over $23 billion USD, grew up during the Great Depression or other entrepreneurs you more than likely know: Steve Jobsof Apple,Michael Dell of Dell Computers, Mark Zuckerberg of Facebook, J.K. Rowling writer of Harry Potter,Amancio Ortega the founder of ZARA clothing stores or Richard Branson of Virgin Records and Virgin Atlantic Airlines.
Many of these people and many more like them and their successful stories did not have an easy beginning. Many of them had no education, some were orphans, other had very simple jobs and some even failed many times before hitting the lottery. So how did they do it? How did they get rich?
The more I kept doing my research the more I noticed something that was pretty common in most of them that was interesting to me and kept me motivated to keep looking and this is what I found out in a simple summary:
These were some of the things most of them had in common:
他们在经济困难的时候投资;
They invested during difficult economic times
他们购买了颓势的企业并让它们好转;
They bought ruined companies and turned them around
一宗业务改变了他们的所有;
One simple deal changed everything for them
在做大之前尝试过很多事情,失败过很多次;
Tried and failed many things before making it big
微观管理他们的生意;
Micromanaged their businesses
They are humble people and eat with normal employees
But these were the things that ALL of them had in common:
认清了行业的趋势并付诸行动;
Recognized the trends of their industry and took action
他们承担了巨大的风险;
They took enormous risks
他们失败了很多次,但是继续尝试;
They failed many times and kept trying
They were innovators
Do any of these things sound familiar to you? Do you practice any of them?
Don’t be afraid to fail, you should be afraid of not trying, you can go from very small to VERY BIG if you sweat enough, if you take risks and you innovate!
